Curriculum Enrichment
In Nursery we think it is important to take the children on visits outside of our Nursery environment, and arrange new experiences for the children inside our Nursery. This gives the children opportunities to visit new places, meet new people and gain vital new experiences.
Here are a few photos of our visit to Bluebells farm, meeting and learning about the Local PCSO’s. watching and nurturing our ducks eggs into little ducklings and trips to the local parks to name a few.
We like to play outside whatever the weather
Benefits of Outdoor Play in All Weather Conditions:
Physical Health:
Outdoor play isn't just fun; it's also a fantastic way to keep your child active and healthy.
Research shows that spending time outdoors can boost your child's immune system, helping them fend off illnesses.
Shockingly, studies indicate that only a third of kids get enough physical activity every day, raising concerns about sedentary lifestyles and related health issues.
Mental Well-being:
Nature has a magical way of reducing stress and boosting mood, even in the youngest of adventurers.
When kids play outside, their brains come alive, leading to better focus, creativity, and overall mental well-being.
With mental health concerns on the rise among kids, prioritising outdoor play can be a game-changer for their happiness and resilience.
Connection to Nature:
Encouraging your child to explore the great outdoors fosters a deep love and respect for the environment.
These early experiences lay the groundwork for a lifelong commitment to caring for our planet.
Studies have found that children who spend time outdoors are more likely to become environmentally conscious adults, making outdoor play a win-win for both kids and the planet.
Learning at Home Challenge for Autumn
Thank you to all of the Stonehill families who took part in our Autumn ‘learning at home’ challenge. We have loved exploring all of the pumpkins, leaves, acorns and conkers that you found on your adventures. Since bringing them back to Nursery we have…
Painted the pumpkins
Washed the pumpkins
Felt the objects and thought about how things feel
Leaf printing
Weighed the pumpkins
We made pumpkin soup to eat for snack
Cut the pumpkins open and scooped out the seeds
We went on a pumpkin hunt in the garden
We used the items to look at big and small
