Admissions

Two Year Old Admissions

From 1 September 2013, 20% of 2 year olds are eligible for funded places. This will improve the attainment and life chances of some of our most disadvantaged children and support working parents.
All 2 year olds who are looked after by their local authority are eligible.
2 year olds whose family receives one of the following are also eligible:
• Income support
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
• Support through part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act
• The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
• Child Tax Credit (but not Working Tax Credit) and have an annual income not over £16,190
• The Working Tax Credit 4-week run on (the payment you get when you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
Where there is a waiting list, priority will be given by the Governors to admission applications as ordered here:-
1. Children who are ‘Looked after’ in accordance with section 22 of the Children Act 1989.
2. Children who are on the Child Protection Register and live in the normal area*.
3. Children who are both living in the normal catchment area and have siblings of compulsory school age attending Dale Primary School at the time of admission.
4. Children who are the subject of a statutory assessment or a statement of special educational needs and live in the normal area.
5. Children where there is outside agency involvement and live in the normal area.
6. Children from the normal area of the school in date of birth order.
7. Children from the wider area of the school in date of birth order who have siblings attending the school at the time of admission.
8. Children from the wider area of the school in date of birth order.

Three Year Old Admissions

All places in the nursery are part time for 15 hours per week. The nursery aims to provide each child on the waiting list with a place as soon after their 3rd birthday as possible, if there is a space available. However, most children will be offered a place for the September following their 3rd birthday. We try to offer all children a minimum of three terms in the nursery.
As there is usually a long waiting list for places, priority will be given by the Governors to admission applications as ordered here:-
1. Children who are ‘Looked after’ in accordance with section 22 of the Children Act 1989.
2. Children who are on the Child Protection Register and live in the normal area*.
3. Children who are living in the normal catchment area and have attended our 2 year old Nursery for at least one term.
4. Children who are living in the normal catchment area and have siblings of compulsory school age attending Dale Primary School at the time of admission.
5. Children who are the subject of a statutory assessment or a statement of special educational needs and live in the normal area.
6. Children where there is outside agency involvement and live in the normal area.
7. Children from the normal area in date of birth order.
8. Children from the wider area who attended our 2 year old Nursery for at least one term.
9. Children from the wider area of the school who have siblings attending Dale Primary School at the time of admission.
10. Children from the wider area of the school.
If there are more children within a category then there are places available, places will be allocated in date of birth order, starting with the oldest child.

PLEASE NOTE:
• Children who attend the Nursery do not have an automatic place in the Reception classes at Dale and should apply through Derby City central admissions. The application period for reception admissions is normally during the Autumn term following the child’s 3rd birthday. It is the responsibility of the parents to apply for a school place.
• *The ‘normal area’ is that served by Dale Community Primary School as is shown on the Derby City Council catchment area map.
